88 North Condominiums is a new mixed-use development coming soon to 88 Queen Street East and 30 Mutual Street in downtown Toronto, Ontario by St. Thomas Developments. The first residential building is a proposed 29 storey tower with an 8 storey podium and retail use space on the main level. This development is designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects and will take up an entire city block in downtown Toronto consisting of office, retail and residential use space.
88 North Condos is being developed by St. Thomas Developments and is part of the St. Thomas Commercial Developments Incorporated (together "the Group"), are a full-service Canadian real estate development company with international affiliations. This Group was founded in 1988 and quickly established a reputation for “unsurpassed quality and unparalleled design". For over two decades, they have successfully completed eight major residential condominium developments in the Greater Toronto Area. Most notably is the "One St. Thomas Residences" designed by New York architect Robert A.M. Stern which is a boutique luxury condominium located in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood built in 2007 with 29 storeys and 73 suite plus 4 townhomes. The Ellington at Yonge and Carlton is one of the company's first Canadian projects that was completed in 1991 with 17 storeys and 243 units. There's also the Ellipse East Tower and the Ellipse West Tower both at 34 storeys in height are also located on Lee Centre Drive in Scarborough and were completed in 2004.
Internationally, St. Thomas Developments' associated companies have developed both commercial and residential projects in the Far East and throughout North America. They are an award winning architectural firm that was founded over 75 years ago by architects Forsey Page and Harland Steele in Toronto. Recently, the firm became a subsidiary of IBI Group and is now known as Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects. This firm specializes in the design of retail, office, residential and hotel uses. Some of their projects include the Hazelton Hotel and Residences in Yorkville, the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences in Toronto and The Met at 21 Carlton.
